Congratulations to the candidates that won the hearts and votes of GCFS! We look forward to your unique, vibrant, and faithful leadership! Thank you for serving our school for another amazing year in the books!
Last week, GCFS elementary went on their last field trip of the school year and visited the trick arm museum. Ms. Song, our vice principal was unable to join them and was extremely sad to miss out on such a fun trip. She proposed the students to submit a writing describing their favorite art work and from the submissions, a winner would be chosen and have an ice-cream date with Ms. Song. One winner couldn't be chosen because 4 different students made Ms. Song laugh and she couldn't help but choose 4 winners! Read it yourself and share the laugh that Ms. Song had!
Over the past 2 months, GCFS partnered with Compassion to raise funds to help with rebuilding hope and a future home for Daniel Hose's family in Guatemala. This past January, with the tragic loss of their home being burnt down from a electrical circuit, they lost everything they owned. Most unfortunate and heartbreaking about this fire was that his younger brother, Alejandro Hose passed away shortly after the incident due to the complications from the fire. As a school, we wanted to be global helpers and represent Christ in our sharing, giving, and offering in small and big ways. In order that what we learned inside the school grounds would overflow into the nations. Through the multiple fundraisers that were ongoing, every student in the school had the opportunity to participate in the purpose of blessing Daniel Hose. Here are the amazing results from our fundraisers since April 2-June 2. Praise God for teaching us, training us, and showing us how to display a bigger heart to give to those in need. On May 19, GCFS held our annual International Day and this year we moved into a new direction by partnering with Compassion to bring global poverty awareness. It was an International Day that could not be forgotten! As a school we had the opportunity to step outside of our country and reach out to bless other countries. 7th-12th grade were assigned 3 different countries and were judged based on oral/visual presentation, cultural souvenir, food, costume, and ticket sales. We were fortunate to have special guest judges from Compassion- Peter Chung and Matt Hong and they presented specific countries' needs as well as the heart beat of why Compassion exists. All ticket sales of (434,500WON) for this event was designated to bless the winning country. Recently, Ethiopia has undergone a tragic landslide and is currently experiencing a severe drought. We were so thankful that the 11th and 12th grade took the highest points as the winning country. Not only were students able to research in depth their assigned country, but they were able to bless globally. As it is so fitting as our mission at GCFS is to raise global Christian leaders all over the world. Well done GCFS and praise God! As a school may we continue to impact the world to know Christ in how we serve!
Searching the visible
Discovering the invisible was the theme for VBS this year. Students were able to dig deeper and invite the Holy Spirit into their hearts through the Bible studies, activities, and worship. As an elementary department, we were able to witness more growth and desire to know God. We truly are His masterpiece and we hope that each student can continue to learn to love God with their whole hearts and know that God loves us very much! Praise God for an amazing week and please continue to pray for the little ones! GCFS had the privilege and pleasure of partnering with Compassion for our very first 'Service Day'. It was truly an eye opening experience for minds to be opened on global poverty. Compassion shared their mission in how they empower and mobilize people to "hurt together" with those that are in need. As a school, our hearts were moved to be the hands and feet of Jesus in whatever capacity to make ourselves available. Elementary helped fold birthday cards that are sent out to each child that is sponsored in the Compassion mail room and middle & high school had a tour of all the different departments and line of work that is provided through Compassion. Students were not only enlightened, but they also were motivated to move in action. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Compassion to sponsor, fundraise, and bless them as an extension of our family. http://www.compassion.or.kr/ Congratulations to the students who did a fantastic job in the 3rd quarter! We honor you!
